Accused held over violating child in Bhola mosque

An individual was arrested over allegation of violating a child who came to offer Tarawih prayers at Char Fashion upazila in Bhola district.

The arrested accused is Qari Talha who was detained on Saturday night.

After the arrest of the accused, the incident came to light and went viral on social media Facebook. This is causing a storm of condemnation in the entire upazila.

The incident took place on third floor of Khas Mahal Jame Mosque in the upazila during Tarawih prayer on Friday night.

The victim is a fourth-grade student of Hefz department of a Residential Model Madrasa in the municipality. The child is currently undergoing treatment at Bhola Sadar Hospital.

The child's family has demanded exemplary punishment for the accused for the incident.

CCTV footage shows a middle-aged man walking around in front of the Charfashan Khas Mahal Jama Masjid with a 10-year-old child during Friday Tarawih prayers. At 7:29 PM, the man entered the mosque with the child.

He took the child to third floor of the mosque. At 8:28 PM, the child was seen leaving the mosque.

The accused left the mosque and sped away on a motorcycle.

Upon receiving the news, the family members first took him to Char Fashion Health COmplex. With his deteriorating condition, the doctor reffered him to Bhola General Hospital at night for better treatment.

Char Fashion Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Md Mizanur Rahman Hawlader was unreachable in this regard.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rasna Sharmin Mithi said that the accused has been arrested and a three-member investigation committee has been formed with the Assistant Commissioner (Land) as the convener.

If victim's family does not file a case in this incident, the investigation report will propose to the District Administrator to file a case as a state plaintiff, stating that the accused should be punished, added the UNO.
