Let Palestine rise from ashes to freedom

Since my childhood, I have been deeply moved by sentimental films, especially those that stirred my emotions and touched my soul. Whenever a film portrayed a sorrowful scene where the protagonist, innocent and blameless, met their untimely end, tears would inevitably flow from my eyes.

Growing up, now, I sit before my screen, witnessing children brimming with dreams cut down in crossfire. Families flee through shattered streets, their faces carved with shock, grief, and rage. The air is shattered by the deafening roar of rockets and bombs, while tanks roll in, leaving ruin in their wake. These scenes are not from any movie. This is the brutal reality a Palestinian faces every day a land once sacred to many prophets, is now a living hell under Israeli occupation.

In every celebration, our doors are met with joy, while in Palestine, homes lead to cemeteries. Here, a mother waits for her child's safe return, but in Palestine, mothers endure sleepless nights, haunted by the fear that their children may never return alive. While gardens here bloom with flowers, in Palestine, thousands of coffins stand as the somber marks of innocent lives lost too soon. Israel's brutal onslaught on the Gaza Strip has killed more than 42,600 people, mostly women and children, and wounded 99,800 others since October last year - although the numbers are likely to be far higher with thousands of victims buried underneath the rubble.

"When words fail, silence often speaks the loudest." But how much longer will we remain silent in the face of Israeli war crimes? Our silence has paved the way for one of the most brutal massacres the world has ever witnessed, even in this 21st century. How long can we turn a blind eye as innocent lives are lost, and humanity suffers in silence? It is not easy to strip away the names and identities from the soil that was nourished by their own hands. From the sacred grounds of Al-Aqsa Mosque to every valley, from the wheat fields to every olive tree, even the slightest grain of sand carries the indelible footprint of Palestine's right of possession. Every inch of this earth holds the legacy of its people, their dignified culture, and their unforgettably enriched history.

The recent ceasefire announcement has brought me a slight sense of relief. At least there is a pause in this constant nightmare. But when will the bloodshed end for good? When will parents and children finally sleep without the terror and worry hanging over them? The thousands of lost lives and the destruction cannot be undone. The only true way to demonstrate justice is by granting Palestine its ultimate freedom. In 2024, at the UN Annual Assembly, 146 out of 193 member countries recognized Palestine as a sovereign nation-a significant step toward the acceptance and acknowledgment of its rightful place in the world.

In recent years, thousands have taken to the streets in pro-Palestine protests across the USA, UK, France, Spain, Australia, and Ireland, standing united in their strength against injustice. These powerful displays of solidarity are a cry for dignity, a demand for change, and a testament to the global outpouring of support for a people who have endured far too much. The world is waking up, and together, we will not be silenced.

The cruel forces may seem stronger, but I have unwavering faith that God never forgives the wrongdoers. There is a verse from the Quran: "Surely Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware." Perhaps there will come a time when all the suffering of Palestine will be repaid with justice. May the birds fly freely across skies and lands once again, knowing they soar over a land that has been set free. May the bravery of every Palestinian youth bear its fruit, and may they witness their homeland restored to its sacred peace. May the days never be far away and peace may serve soonest as possible.
