The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has announced an increase of Tk 2,613 per bhori (11.664 grams) in gold prices ahead of Eid.
With the surge, which will effect from tomorrow (17 March), the new price of highest quality gold (22-carat) is set at Tk 153,475 per bhori.
According to a press release signed by Masudur Rahman, chairman of BAJUS’s Price Determination and Monitoring Standing Committee, the new prices will take effect from Monday, March 17.
This price hike follows recent fluctuations in gold prices. On March 5, prices were increased, only to be lowered again on March 8. Another price reduction was also implemented on March 1.
As per the updated rates, 21-carat gold will now cost Tk 146,500 per bhori, 18-carat gold Tk 125,575 per bhori, and gold made using traditional methods Tk 103,471 per bhori.
Despite the increase in gold prices, silver prices remain unchanged. The price of 22-carat silver is Tk 2,578 per bhori, while 21-carat silver is Tk 2,449 per bhori. The prices for 18-carat and traditional silver remain at Tk 2,111 and Tk 1,586 per bhori, respectively.
