Bangladesh men's national football team got United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB) as its partner for the next five years as Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) and the UCB inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Sunday at a signing ceremony at the UCB headquarters in Gulshan, Dhaka.

BFF President Tabith Awal said that the governing body of local football FIFA had given the newly elected committee of BFF a clean chit and withdrawn the financial restrictions it had on the financial matters of the Federation. Tabith claimed with pride that the fact had drawn the sponsors to be sponsors of the national teams.

The BFF boss said that they were able to facilitate overseas Bangladeshi footballers like Hamza Chowdhury due to UCB's financial support.

With a slogan, 'A commitment to reviving football's success and popularity', the two came together with a view to foster the growth of the national football team and strengthen its position in international competitions.

Officials of both the parties stated that they would work together to promote football's development and restore its popularity under the strategic partnership.

In the MoU signing ceremony, UCB Managing Director and CEO Mohammad Mamdudur Rashid said, "We are looking forward to a story of revival and success of our Football. We trusted the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) on making that happen. We believe that the BFF will be able to achieve it."

BFF President Tabith Awal said, "We are glad to sign this agreement with the UCB bank and get them as our partner. The cooperation will be helpful to take our football to the next level."

He added, "Corporate support is crucial for the growth of football. Sponsorship from organisations like UCB will not only contribute to the national team's development but also strengthen Bangladesh's position on the global football stage."

UCB Chairman Sharif Zahir added, "We are proud to be associated with the rich legacy of Bangladesh football. UCB is committed to supporting the national team's success and will actively work to make football more popular among the younger generation."

However, none of the parties were willing to reveal the terms and conditions of the MoU. They only divulged that the partnership would be of five years and more details would be revealed with time.

BFF President Tabith Awal and UCB Managing Director and CEO Mohammad Mamdudur Rashid signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.

UCB Chairman Sharif Zahir, BFF General Secretary Imran Hossain Tushar, and other officials from both sides were there.
