Veteran filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, who has directed the Krrish franchise so far, has confirmed that he will not be helming the upcoming fourth instalment.
Starring his son, Hrithik Roshan, the franchise has enjoyed consistent box office success. However, the question remains—who will take over as director?
In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Rakesh Roshan shared his thoughts on stepping away from the director’s chair. He acknowledged that the time had come to pass on the responsibility, saying, “It is better that I do it while I am in my senses so that I can oversee the process and ensure it is being done correctly. If I wait too long and am no longer in control, I will not know what they are making.”
Despite not directing Krrish 4, Rakesh Roshan expressed no disappointment. He said, “It is a risk we have to take. There is no guarantee that if I direct Krrish 4, it will be a blockbuster. It could go the other way as well.”
He did not reveal the new director’s name but hinted at being involved in the film’s production.
The Krrish franchise began with the 2003 sci-fi film Koi... Mil Gaya, which was followed by Krrish in 2006 and Krrish 3 in 2013. Hrithik Roshan has played the lead role in all instalments, with Priyanka Chopra starring alongside him in the last two.
Although no official announcement has been made, reports suggest that the script for Krrish 4 has been finalised. Meanwhile, Hrithik Roshan is currently filming War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji, where he stars alongside NTR Jr and Kiara Advani.
