Police arrested a truck driver and helper along with 59 sacks of rice of Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB), likely for sale at inflated prices, from Beltoil Bazar area of Shahjadpur upazila in Sirajganj early Sunday.
The arrested were identified as truck driver Abdur Rahman,28, and his associate Shipon Sikder, 25.
Confirming the matter, Shahjadpur Police Station officer-in-charge Aslam Ali said that a team of police, acting on a tip off, conducted a drive in the area and arrested them.
Police also seized 4,358 kilograms of TCB rice from their possessions.
A case was filed against them with the police station, the OC said, adding that legal action would be taken against those found involved in the incident.
