UPDF activist gunned down in Rangamati

A United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) member was shot to death in Rangamati Sadar upazila on Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Nirmol Khisa, 32, son of Bihari Khisa, a resident of Toi Chakma village under Naniarchar upazila, confirmed the UPDF.

Angya Marma, a spokesperson for the UPDF, claimed that armed members of the Parbatya Chattogram Jana Sanghati Samiti (PCJSS) launched the attack, resulting in Nirmol's death in the Kharmapara Teimidung area.

In an statement, UPDF's Rangamati district organiser Sachal Chakma said, "A group of six to seven armed criminals of JSS attacked on the UPDF members at about 9AM on Sunday, leaving Nirmol dead on the spot."

Locals informed that after the shooting, the gang members went to Katachhori Shorgopur Bonvabna Centre.

Md Sahed Uddin, officer in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, said, "Police recovered a body from the scene."
