Police arrested Sajjad Hossain, alias Chhota Sajjad, a notorious terrorist in Chattogram, from Bashundhara Shopping Complex in Dhaka early Sunday.

Confirming the arrest, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Jahangir of CMP North stated that Sajjad was taken into custody from the shopping complex at night. Further details will be provided later.
Arrested Sajjad Hossain, 29, was a resident of Shikarpur under Hathazari upazila in Chattogram district.

Sajjad, known for his violent activities, was initially arrested by Chandgaon Police Station on July 17 of the previous year in connection with a case. However, he was granted bail a month later.

On August 29 of the same year, Sajjad Bahini, a group linked to Sajjad, was involved in the brutal killings of Masud Kaiser, 32, and Mohammad Anis, 38, in broad daylight on Kuaish Road in Oxygen area. Sajjad is the main accused in two separate cases related to these murders.

Further, on September 21, Sajjad Bahini was involved in the shooting death of local businessman Aftab Uddin Tahsin, 27, near a tea shop by Adurpara Jagorani Sangha Club in Chandgaon.

In an attempt to arrest Sajjad, police raided the Oxygen Jalalabad petrol pump area, but Sajjad fired at them and managed to escape. During this incident, two local residents, Kajal Kanti Dey, 36, and Jabed, 34, were injured by gunshots.

Additionally, Sajjad was reportedly involved in an incident on January 28 this year when he made a public threat against Bayezid Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Arifur Rahman via Facebook Live.

He faces over 10 criminal cases, including charges of murder, threats, and extortion, across various police stations in the city.

Authorities are continuing their investigation and further details are expected to be released soon.
