BNP Standing Committee Member Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain on Saturday said conspiracy is on regarding the upcoming nation elections.

Speaking at an Iftar mahfil organized by Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, Swechhasebak and Chhatra Dal at a hotel in the capital in honour of journalists, he said, "The responsibility of the interim government is to establish the rights of the people and ensure free, fair and neutral polls."

He said, "In pretexts of reform they delayed election, even in seven months, they have not been able to announce any clear outline."

Mosharraf said, "Sheikh Hasina government destroyed country's every institution in last 15 years. It is the responsibility of the elected government to repair it. Therefore, the interim government should hand over power to the elected government to reconstruct the state."

He asked the interim government to declare clear roadmap and specific date of the election and said, "The elected government of the people will confront the conspiracy of the fascist ousted government.''

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said that the interim government is creating confusion among the people by talking about short-term and long-term reforms.

He said, a few days ago the government said that the elections will be held by December, today I saw in the newspaper that in case of short-term reforms the election will hold on December and in terms of long-term reforms the election will hold on June next year.

"By giving these kinds of statement, the government is creating confusion among the people about the elections," he said.
Rizvi said, "What is short-term or long-term reform? Reform is a slippery slope. The reforms you are doing today it can be canceled after 20 years and new reforms may come."

"Then why the confusion about short-term reforms and long-term reforms arise among the people?" said Rizvi.
Jubo Dal President Monayem Munna thanked to the journalists and other guests to participate at the Iftar mahfil.

Chhatra Dal General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir, BNP's Student Affairs Secretary Rakibul Islam Bakul, Swechchhasebak Dal President SM Jilani, Jubo Dal General Secretary Nurul Islam Nayan, Swechchhasebak Dal General Secretary Rajib Ahsan, Chhatra Dal President Rakibul Islam Rakib, among others, spoke at the event.
