Dear Sir,
The recent report from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) indicates a concerning rise in dengue cases in the country. In the last 24 hours, ten new cases were recorded, bringing the total to 1,706 for 2025. While no new fatalities have been reported, the situation remains worrying. The majority of the new cases were recorded in Chattogram division, particularly outside the city, with three cases in Dhaka North City Corporation and one in Dhaka South City Corporation.
The increase in dengue cases reflects the persistent threat the disease poses, especially with the monsoon season approaching, which creates ideal breeding grounds for mosquitoes. Currently, 88 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country. Despite the absence of new deaths, the number of reported cases is far higher compared to the same time last year, with 2024 witnessing 101,214 cases and 575 deaths.
The growing number of cases this year calls for urgent measures. Stronger mosquito control efforts, increased public awareness, and timely medical intervention will be critical to curbing the spread of the disease and preventing further fatalities. Immediate action is needed to address this ongoing health threat.
