Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Senior Joint Secretary General of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), has said that slow and relaxed attitude of the administration are encouraging the miscreants to commit crimes.

He said this at a press conference at the BNP central Nayapaltan office on Friday, reports BSS.

The countrymen cannot accept the death of Magura rape victim as people expected that rule of law will be prevailed under the interim government, Rizvi said.

“But due to the slow and lax behavior of the administration, the miscreants in the society are being encouraged towards crimes in various ways," he added.

The BNP leader said long-standing social solidarity has been destroyed by the misrule of the past 16 years. Sheikh Hasina herself indulged in all kinds of dirty things to remain in power, he said.

He urged the interim government to immediately enforce the rule of law through bringing the criminals to book.

"We once again strongly demand that exemplary punishment should be given immediately to the killers of the Magura rape victim," he said.

He prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul of Magura rape victim and expressed condolence to her family members.

Rizvi said BNP has initiated a nationwide campaign to collect information on incidents of torture, murder and rape of women and children and opened a cell to provide them with legal and medical support.

BNP's Legal Affairs Secretary Barrister Kaiser Kamal and Health Affairs Secretary Dr Rafiqul Islam were present at the press conference.
