2 killed in Barishal road crash

Two people, including a municipal employee, were killed when a bus hit them in Gaurnadi upazila of Barishal early Wednesday.

The accident took place around 1:15 am at Medina bus stand in the upazila.
The dead were identified as Abdur Razzak Gharami, 47, an employee of Gaurnadi Municipality, a resident of Dakshin Palrodi village, and van driver Swapan Khan, 56, of Ramjanpur village in Kalkini upazila.

Gaurnadi Fire Service Station Officer Bipul Hossain said that Razzak Gharami was returning home by a van. The van overturned after being hit by an unidentified bus, injuring the passengers and driver of the van.

They were rescued and took to Gaurnadi Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared them dead.

Gournadi Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Aminur Rahman said, "We are working to identify the unidentified bus. The process of handing over the body to the family is underway."
