AMTALI, BARGUNA, Mar 11: Healthcare services of 20 risky community clinics in Amtali Upazila of the district are running amid panic.
There are 33 community clinics in the upazila including the 20 risky ones.
According to sources, health workers are working in these clinics taking life risks. The buildings of the clinics are likely to collapse. Both patients and health workers are in panic.
Risky clinics are Gerabunia Community Clinic at Atharogachhia Union, Kolonko Community Clinic at Sadar Union, Pachwimchila and Chhonautha Community clinics at Holdia Union, Chalitabunia Community Clinic at Chawra Union, Gojkhali Community Clinic at Gulishakhali Union, and Charakgachhia Community Clinic at Arpangashia. These clinics were built 25 years back. Later on, these were not repaired.
Visits found cracks on walls of most of the clinics while roofs developed rust. Plasters and concrete are dropping down.
A patient Hasina at Chalitabunia Community Clinic said, "Health workers are sincere, but we scare because of the risky buildings. Pregnant women don't dare to come here. "
CHCP Hafiza Aktar of the clinic said, on an average, 30-40 patients are taking treatment at the clinic per day.
CHCP of Pachwimchila Community Clinic Rasel Munsi said, "We remain in panic every day. Plasters drop on head."
Amtali Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Chinmoy Hawladar said, authorities concerned have been informed about the risky clinics. After getting allocations, these will be repaired, the official added.
