An elderly man was arrested over molesting his granddaughter in Rangamati town on Tuesday evening.
The incident occurred at Bhedbedi area in the town on Monday morning.
The detainee is Suvash Kumar Chakma, 60, a resident of the area.
According to the victim’s mother, the child slept with her grandparents on Sunday night. Next day morning, she was crying and said that the accused molested her at that night.
However, the accused also blame the woman while protesting about the incident which later turned into clashes between them.
Citing the victim’s mother, the on-duty doctor of Rangamati General Hospital, Shawkat Akber Khan, said that the child was admitted to the hospital around 10:00PM while she was facing pain during urinate.
The victim minor girl’s treatment is undergoing, he added.
Rangamati Model Police Station officer-in-charge Md Sahed Uddin confirmed the detention and said that further legal action would be taken in this regard.
