Father arrested for 'raping' daughter in Ctg

Police have arrested father for allegedly raping his 10-year-old daughter in Boluardighi area under Kotwali police station in Chattogram city.

Kotwali police arrested the accused father from Boluardighi area of the city on Sunday last night after receiving information from the National Emergency Service 999.

The arrestee was identified as Pradip Banik, 52, a resident of Brahmanbaria district. He lived in Chattogram with his family and worked as a security guard at Chawkbazar's Moti Tower.

According to sources, the victim's mother works in a garment factory. Her father Pradip Banik worked as a security guard at Chawkbazar Moti Tower. When they went to work, the victim child was alone at home. Her father had been trying to rape her after returning home from work for a few days. The victim try to explain the incident to her mother. At first, her mother didn't believe it. Later, when he try to do it again, her mother taught her daughter to secretly record the video on her mobile phone.
Meanwhile, on Sunday afternoon, the victim's father returned from work and try to rape her again. The child then secretly filmed the video. Then her mother came home from work and showed the video. The victim's mother then called the National Emergency Service 999 and alerted the police. On information, Kotwali police arrested the accused father Pradip Banik and took him to the police station.

Later, the victim was sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for medical examination.

The victim's mother filed a case against her husband Pradip Banik with Kotwali Police Station on Monday night.

Kotwali Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Abdul Karim said the victim's mother filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.

He also said he will be sent to jail through the court in the morning. Investigations are underway. Details will be known after the investigation, he added.
