PABNA, Mar 9: A workshop on "From Ideas to Impact Collaborative Research Opportunities Between Past and University of Yamanashi" was held for teachers in Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST) on Saturday.
Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr SM Abdul-Awal was present as the chief guest, and Deputy VC Professor Dr Md Nazrul Islam was present as special guest.
Presided over by Treasurer Professor Dr Md Shamim Ahsan, the workshop was attended, among others, by Vice-President of Yamanashi University, Japan and Professor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Hanawa Masanori and Director of the Centre for Promotion of Internationalisation and Professor of Mechatronics Hiromitsu Nishizaki.
VC Professor Dr SM Abdul-Awal first thanked the Japanese guests. He said, "Japan is our best friend and we are very grateful to them. We have opportunities to work together with them in various sectors. We need to increase our collaboration with Japan in the field of engineering and technology. Japan maintains quality in every subject, if we want to do something good, we also need to maintain quality."
"Japan provides scholarship under various names for international students. We need to utilise that opportunity. We need to work on increasing relations with the developed world in the field of education," he added.
He further said, "This region is mainly agricultural; along with technology. There is an opportunity to work on agriculture. We are a developing country. We have various problems. We need to increase collaboration with the developed world to solve the problems."
Professor Hanawa Masanori and Professor Hiromitsu Nishizaki said, "We feel very honoured to be here. We are very happy. In the future, we will be able to exchange knowledge on various subjects through collaboration.”
