Sub-Registry office at Batiaghata lacks proper environment

BATIAGHATA, KHULNA, Mar 9: There is no good working environment in the Sub-Registry office in Batiaghata Upazila of the district.

Yearly, 14,000 deeds are completed in the office while Tk 60 crore is deposited as revenue.
Due to electricity outage, CC camera, photo machine, sound system, AC, fan and light are almost useless.
Daily more than 1,000 men and women from seven unions of the upazila go to the registry office for deed registration, certified copy of deed and others.

Deed writing and doing other works continue from morning to night, engaging over 100 officers and employees.

A land purchaser and former chairman of Jolma Union Ashikujjaman said, "We are getting a revenue collection of over Tk 5 lakh per day. But due to negligence of the electricity office, people can't receive services."

Batiaghata Upazila Sub-Register Omaik Babu said, "We are trying to make the sub-registry office public-friendly. But the electricity crisis has halted all activities. Despite repeated letters to the electricity office, it is not working."

General Manager of Khulna Palli Bidyut Samiti Tushar Kanti Mandal said, "I joined on March 1. So it is not possible to say anything in this regard."

"I will take measures after inquiry," he added.
