Three people including two minor children drowned in separate incidents in two districts - Sirajganj and Rajshahi.
SIRAJGANJ: Two cousin sisters drowned in a pond in Kazipur Upazila of the district on Friday afternoon.
The incident took place in Bilchatal Village of the upazila.
The deceased were identified as Tonni, 8, daughter of Hafizur Rahman, and Anika, 8, daughter of the sister of Hafizur Rahman.
According to local sources, Tonni and Anika were playing on the sand piled up near their house.
They could not be found since then. Later on, the family members found their bodies floating on the water in a pond there.
Being informed, police recovered the bodies from the pond. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kazipur Police Station (PS) Nur Alam confirmed the incident, adding that necessary steps would be taken in this connection.
BAGHA, RAJSHAHI: A mentally-imbalanced young man drowned in a pond in Bagha Upazila of the district on Thursday noon.
The deceased was identified as Shipon Hossain, 20, son of Belal Hossain, a resident of Bererbari Mollapara Village under Arani Union.
It was known that Shipon was an epilepsy patient. At around 1 pm on Thursday, he fell in a pond in the area while washing his hands, and drowned there.
