A college student has alleged that she was gang-raped after being held hostage by a group while visiting Guliyakhali Sea Beach with a friend at Sitakunda upazila in Chittagong.

The incident reportedly occurred around 1:30 PM on Saturday. Locals rescued the victim and informed the police, who later brought her to Sitakunda Police Station.
The victim, a student of Sitakunda Girls' College, stated that she had gone to the beach with her friend, Rakib, 25, on Saturday afternoon. As they crossed the embankment to reach the shore, four young men allegedly abducted them and took them to a casuarina grove near the coast. The assailants reportedly beat Rakib and then took turns raping the student.

Locals, alerted by the commotion, rescued the girl, but the perpetrators managed to flee.

The victim recounted her ordeal, saying, “I begged and pleaded for mercy, even fell at their feet, but I couldn’t save myself from their clutches.”

A local resident, Munna, who was part of the rescue effort, said, “When we arrived at the scene, the young woman was visibly traumatized. She told us she had been gang-raped.”

Sitakunda Model Police Station officer-in-charge, Md. Mojibur Rahman, confirmed that police visited the scene and are investigating the incident. “We are gathering details and will provide updates soon,” he said.

Sitakunda Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Fakhrul Islam assured that police have already begun their investigation. “We are working to identify and arrest the perpetrators as quickly as possible,” he added.
