The Bangladesh Army early Friday recovered firearms and other local weapons from Kaukhali area in Rangamati district.
A team of Army officials, acting on a tip off, conducted a special drive against top-tier miscreants in the area and seized fireamrs and other local weapons.
A press release issued from the Directorate of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed the matter in the evening.
The army patrol, during the operation, discovered a hideout of UPDF (Main) Regional Armed Group and recovered 17 rounds of pistol ammunition, a binocular, a walkie-talkie set, a hard disk, miscreant’s uniforms, extortion receipts and other equipment from the hideout, the release said.
Army will continue its operations against all regional armed groups who use to threaten peace in the CHT areas, posing a risk to national sovereignty, added the release.
