Police recovered the half-decomposed body of a local Jubo League leader from a cattle shed at Kazipur upazila in Sirajganj district on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Yusuf Ali Swapon, 40, son of Iman Ali Khan from Bir Shubhagacha village in the upazila and served as the Joint General Secretary of the local Shubhagacha Union unit Jubo League.
On Friday morning, locals smelled a strong odor emanating from the shed at Tarakandi village in the upazila and informed the police.
On information, police arrived at the spot and recovered the body.
The body was later sent to the Sirajganj General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Kazipur Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Nur Alam said that Swapon had been living alone in a separate room in the cattle shed in that remote area for several weeks.
The OC also added that the exact cause of death is not yet known, but the post-mortem report will reveal the true cause.
A case has been filed with the concerned police station regarding the incident, added the OC.
