NATORE, Mar 6: In all 1,377 legal disputes of village people in the district were solved by village courts here in one year.
Beside this, the courts realised Tk 2 crore 22 lakh 700 from different cases and gave it to the parties concerned as compensation.
The above information were reported to the persons attending a workshop on the topic ''Village Court'', which was held in the conference room of the deputy commissioner (DC) on Monday.
The workshop was presided over by Asma Khatun, Additional District Magistrate, while DC Asma Shahin was present at the function as the chief guest.
In the workshop, the speakers discussed the importance of village court and explained its activities elaborately to the trainees.
They said, the court has gained widespread admiration for solving the local disputes in a short time with a minimum expenditure.
The local administration is working with full attention to make it more powerful in order to build up a habitable society through solving the legal disputes of the marginal people.
They called upon all to utilise this opportunity for self and others.
Among others, Sumon Chakma, Project Analyst of the Bangladesh Village Court Working Project, and Md. Shafiqur Rahaman, District Manager of the project, spoke at the meeting.
