Two men held with 18 gold bars in Chuadanga

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested two people along with 18 gold bars weighing 2.411 kg from a passenger bus in Chuadanga on Tuesday.

The arrestees are: Md Rafiqul Islam, 42, a resident of Pirpurkullah Village under Damurhuda Upazila in Chuadanga, and Md Liton Khan, 26, hails from Hossainpur Village under Debidwar Upazila in Comilla District.

It was known that acting on a tip-off, the BGB personnel seized the gold bars worth around Tk 3 crore at around 1:10 pm after searching a bus of 'Purbasha Paribahan' coming from Dhaka.

Commander of BGB's Chuadanga Battalion Lt Col Md Nazmul Hasan confirmed the matter in a press release.

However, a case was filed with Chuadanga Sadar Police Station in this connection.
