Jashore Police Department has decided to deploy over 700 additional police officers across the district to ensure public safety ahead of holy month Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr.
Jashore Superintendent of Police (SP) Nur Alam Siddique confirmed the information during a press briefing at the district police superintendent's office.
During the briefing, SP Nur Alam Siddique said that over 700 police officers would be deployed across nine police stations in the district. The police will patrol using 25 patrol cars, 60 mobile units, 13 picket teams, and 27 motorcycle mobile teams around the clock.
Additionally, in the Kotwali Police Station area, 28 mobile units, 4 picket teams, and 7 full patrol teams will be operational. Motorcycle mobile teams will patrol the main roads and alleys of the city.
Special teams in plain clothes, along with Ready-to-Move team and Quick Response Team (CRT), will be on standby at all times.
A dedicated team has also been formed to apprehend robbers and gang members. The Rickshaw Owners Association will collaborate to manage traffic during this period.
SP Nur Alam Siddique emphasized that the police are working tirelessly around the clock to ensure public safety. "Our police personnel are dedicated to serving the people and earning their wages through honest work," he added.
He also highlighted that the police would remain vigilant to prevent robberies and other crimes during Ramadan. Increased intelligence surveillance will be implemented at all local banks, and individuals involved in large financial transactions have been urged to inform the police.
Present at the press briefing were Additional Police Superintendent (Crime and Ops) Abul Bashar, Additional SP (DSB) Ruhul Amin, Senior ASP Nishat Al Nahian, Jashore DB officer-in-charge Monzurul Haque Bhuiyan, and Jashore Traffic Police inspector Mafuzur Rahman, among others.
Senior journalists Saifur Rahman Saif, Jewel Mridha, Kazi Ashraful Azad, Indrajit Roy, and SM Forhad were also present at the press conference.
