Police have arrested 10 more individuals in connection with the attack on a police officer at Patenga beach area in Chattogram city.
A press release issued by Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Public Relations Department confirmed the arrests on Sunday.
The individuals were apprehended from various locations, including Panchlaish in the city, on Saturday night.
The arrested have been identified as Ganapati, 57, Hamidur Rahman, 30, Rohan, 20, Arif Pramanik, 35, Rabbi, 35, Shuvo, 19, Jibon, 26, Rumel, 30, Rezaul Karim, 45, and Siam Sheikh, 18.
According to CMP Additional Deputy Commissioner (PR and Media) Mahmuda Begum, the arrests were made in connection with the beating of Sub-Inspector (SI) Yusuf Ali, who was in charge of the check post on the outer ring road near Patenga beach on Friday night. Legal action is being taken against those involved, he added.
