Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) 6 Battalion has recovered four gold bars from an abandoned cattle shed at Damurhuda upazila in Chuadanga district.
The information was disclosed in a press release issued by Chuadanga Battalion (6 BGB) Director Lieutenant Colonel Nazmul Hasan on Friday morning (February 28).
According to the press release, BGB was informed that a consignment of gold was hidden in an abandoned cattle shed near a border-side house at Hudapara village, intended for smuggling into India.
Acting on the tip-off, a BGB team from Hudapara Border Outpost (BOP) conducted a raid on Thursday evening at the abandoned cattle shed near the residence of one Harun.
During the search, they successfully recovered four gold bars.
Lieutenant Colonel Nazmul Hasan said, "The estimated market value of the seized gold is Tk 2,84,30,150. A case has been filed with Damurhuda Model Police Station by Nayek Iqbal Hossain in this regard. The confiscated gold bars will be deposited at Chuadanga Treasury Office."
