Jagannath University (JnU) students organized a protest rally demanding immediate action to end murder, rape, robbery, dacoity and mob violence across the country. The rally also called for enhanced security for all citizens.

The event, held on Wednesday at 1:00pm, was led by the 'Jagannath University Against Oppression' group. It began with the rendition of the national anthem and proceeded with a march around the campus. The students made their way through Shankhari Bazar before concluding the rally at Sculpture Square.

During the protest, the students chanted powerful slogans. The students expressed their frustration with the interim government's failure to ensure the safety of women and citizens, particularly following the events of July 2024. They questioned why women are still forced to take to the streets with placards, protesting the ongoing threats of rape, robbery and violence. They condemned the government's inability to protect the public and demanded that the government guarantee the safety and peaceful lives of every citizen.

Evan Tahsib, a student from the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, said, "This government has failed to provide safety for ordinary people. Whether it's day or night, we never feel safe on the streets.

Every day, we see new reports of rape and robbery on social media. We need safety for all men, women, and every citizen."

Shamsul Alam Maruf, a student of the Law Department, added, "The Home Affairs Adviser dismissed these incidents as 'minor' and claimed they happen regularly. But these so-called 'minor incidents' are causing countless lives to be lost. People are living in constant fear, and their basic rights to a natural, peaceful life is being stripped away."

Samira Mou, a student from the Film and Television Department, expressed her concern, saying, "The current situation in the country is deeply alarming. We fear for our safety when we return home from university after classes and tutoring. This is creating a situation where 80 million women are being forced to stay indoors. The administration has failed to ensure their safety. We demand a guarantee of a natural death for all citizens."
