Schoolboy beaten dead in Natore

A third grader was allegedly beaten to death in a clash over a football match dispute at Singra upazila in Natore district on Monday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Nahid Hosain, 9, son of Hafizul Islam, a resident of Barogaon village in the upazila.

The incident occurred at Barogaon Government Primary School playground around 1:30 PM.

According to locals, allegedly two fifth graders beaten and killed the victim in clash over a football match.

The two accused are Rabbi and Taufiq. Both are studying at the same school.

Headmaster of the school Rahidul Islam Ranju said that the incident occurred during the leisure period while they were playing a match and locked into an altercation. Following the altercation, Rabbi and Taufiq started punching the child suddenly, leaving him critically injured.

Later, the victim succumbed to his injuries on the way to a nearby hospital.

Singra Police Station officer-in-charge confirmed the demise and said that legal actions would be taken upon receiving any complaint in this regard.
