At least 585 more individuals were arrested during the nationwide Operation Devil Hunt in last 24 hours. Some 908 individuals were also apprehended across the country on various charges.
With this new arrests, the total number of people nabbed rose to 8,664 during the nationwide Operation Devil Hunt for the last 16 days.
Police Headquarters AIG (Media and Public Relations) Inamul Haque Sagar confirmed the detention on Sunday afternoon. During this period, the joint forces also recovered a range of weapons and illegal articles.
The government announced the special operation, Operation Devil Hunt, across the country, including Gazipur, aiming to maintain law and order and bring terrorists to justice on February 8.
The decision was made in a high-level law enforcers meeting at the Secretariat on the day, following an attack on students and civilians in Gazipur on February 7 night.
