The authorities of Chittagong University (CU) have renamed its seven establishments, including four residential halls of the university.
The decision was taken at the 559th Extraordinary Syndicate meeting held on the campus on Saturday evening.
According to the decision, the newly constructed residential hall of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall of the university has been renamed as Shaheed Md Farhad Hossain Hall, the name of Jananetri Sheikh Hasina Hall has been renamed as Bijoy Chabbish Hall, the name of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall as Nawab Faizunnesa Choudhurani Hall, the name of the second arts' faculty building, Abu Yusuf Bhaban, as Shaheed Hridoy Chandra Tarua Bhaban, the name of the Bangabandhu Udyan as July Biplob Udyan and the name of Sheikh Kamal Gymnasium has been renamed as Chittagong University Gymnasium.
Meanwhile, the names of all the establishments named after the ousted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her parents and family members have been changed from the university.
