Dhaka Abahani was a little shaky in the first few minutes of the first match in the second phase of the Bangladesh Premier League as the team digested a goal against Fakirerpool Young Men's Club but finally managed to recover, equalise, and ultimately go ahead and won the match by 6-1 margin at the Comilla District Stadium on Saturday.
It was midfielder Sayed Hossen Sayem who took a 15-minute lead for the Fakirerpool area club. But the club could not continue the lead after the 39th minute of the match when the traditional sky-blue jerseys recovered and levelled the margin. Midfielder Ridoy scored the equaliser.
Striker Enamul Islam Gazi put Abahani ahead scoring his first in the 54th minute. He scored his second and extended the margin in the 60th minute.
Striker Mohammad Ibrahim scored the team's second in the fourth goal in the 76th minute.
While Fakirerpool YMC was struggling to get the ball Abahani scorer Jafar Iqbal and Mirajul Islam one each, in the 86th and 90th minute of the match.
A big margin win is natural for Abahani but taking an early lead against Abahani was a moment of pride for Fakirerpool Young Men's Club. Unfortunately, Fakirerpool lost the rhythm it had in the first few matches in the league. That time the club was doing comparatively well. Now it is on the brink of touching the bottom line on the point table.
