Three minors drown in Natore, Chattogram

Three minor children drowned in separate incidents in two districts - Natore and Chattogram.

BAGATIPARA, NATORE: A minor boy drowned in the Borai River in Bagatipara Upazila on Thursday.

The incident took place in Bashbaria Village of the upazila at around 11:30 am.

The deceased was identified as Rafi, 2, son of Minzanur Rahman, a resident of the same village.

According to local sources, Rafi's mother went out leaving him in the house with his grandmother. Later on, Rafi slipped into the river next to the house, and drowned there.

Some workers found Rafi floating and shouted. Locals then rescued him from there and took him to Bagatipara Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctors declared the boy dead upon arrival.

CHATTOGRAM: Two minor girls drowned in separate ponds in Mirsharai Upazila on Thursday.

The incidents occurred in Jonardonpur Village under Durgapur Union and Madhyam Sonapahar Village under Jorarganj Union.

The deceased were identified as Sabiha Tasnim, 2, daughter of Mazhab Hossain of Jonardonpur Village under Durgapur Union; and Yafi, 2, daughter of Md Imran Hossain of Madhyam Sonapahar Village under Jorarganj Union.

According to Sabiha's family members, her family members started searching for her as she was missing from Thursday noon. Later on, her mother saw Sabiha floating on the water in a pond next to the house.

The family members then rescued her and took to Mirsharai Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared the girl dead.

At the same time, Yafi also drowned in a pond in Madhyam Sonapahar Village under Jorarganj Union.

Physician of Mirsharai Upazila Health Complex Joya Dhar confirmed the incidents.
