Police arrested 29 leaders and activists of Awami League (AL), Jubo League and banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) in last 24 hours from different places in Chattogram during countrywide Operation Devil Hunt.
A press release issued by the Public Relations Department of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) confirmed the information on Thursday.
The arrested are identified as Rana Chowdhury Michael, 37, Harunur Rashid Sajib, 28, Monir Uddin Nadim Tasmir, 19, Syed Mohammad Abul Yaruz, 39, Shahran, 31, Abdul Karim Jewel, 31, Imran Hossain, 35, Mosharraf Hossain, 42, Abdul Gofran Kachi, 38, Nayeem, 27, Imran, 36, Tajul Islam, 50, Jamal Uddin, 40. Nayan Das, 28, Sukumar Das, 38, Jamal Hossain, 33, Samir, 19, Belal Uddin, 37, Lokman, 42, Mokhlesur Rahman, 47, Nurul Islam Bala, 42, Mohammad Abul Bashar, 41, Nasir, 44, Abu Taher, 42, Moktar Hossain, 36, Helal Uddin, 50, Jahedul Islam, 35, Monir, 28, and Md Manik, 32.
