Swimming competition held in Bagerhat

On the occasion of Festival of Youth 2025, a swimming competition was held at Mithapukur Par in the city with the participation of young and senior people on Wednesday.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Md. Ariful Islam formally inaugurated the meet as the chief guest, organised by Bagerhat District Administration and District Sports Office.
Over 100 swimmers participated in the meet in 14 events which included under-14 boys' and girls', under-17 boys' and girls', open men's and women's and open swimming competition for the above 50-year-old.
After a long time, the swimmers were happy to participate in the competition. Swimmer Md. Siam Khan said after a long time such a competition was held in Bagerhat.
Siam, who is very happy to participate in the competition, said the teenagers and youths would stay away from drugs if such competition is organized frequently.
Md Yusuf, a senior swimmer above 50-year old, said: "I used to participate in many swimming competitions when I was young and got many awards. Today, I again participated in this competition and finished second position. It feels great to participate in such an event."
After the competition, a prize distribution ceremony was held.
Twenty-nine sports competitions were organized in the district on the occasion of Festival of Youth which started on December 30 last year, he informed. —BSS
