Abahani Limited made a winning start to the Women's Dhaka Premier League (DPL) by grabbing a hard-fought four-wicket win over Bangladesh Police Cricket Club Women Cricket Team on Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) ground on Wednesday.
Opting to bat first, the Police Cricket team was bowled out for paltry 98 but Abahani had to struggle to overhaul the target.
Captain Farzana Haque Pinky, however, played a serene 55 not out to eventually drive the side to victory in 25.3 overs after they lost six wickets. Prity Das took 3-25 for the Police team.
In the day's other game, Gulshan Youth Club recorded a seven-wicket victory over Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity Women's team, thanks to Sandiha Akter Asha's six wickets haul on ULAB ground.
Sandiha had an envious figure of 5.4-3-9-6 as Gulshan skittled Khelaghar out for just 64 in 28.4 overs. Atika Akter Anura was the only batter to reach double digits by scoring 21. —BSS
