Case filed over attack on KUET students

Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) administration filled a case with Khan Jahan Ali Police Station following the attack on students on Wednesday evening.

KUET Public Relations Officer confirmed the development, saying that the Vice-Chancellor (VC) immediately pledged to provide full support to the students and ensure justice in response to the incident on Tuesday.

The VC contacted local law enforcement authorities and urged them to cooperate promptly.

Earlier, a clash broke out between some outsiders and the students in the campus before a meeting, called by the VC, between all deans, institute directors, registrars, department heads, and provosts to discuss the implementation of student demands.

Following the incident, the VC, Pro-VC, and other teachers went to the spot, showing solidarity with the students and attempting to stop the attackers.

During this time, the VC,several teachers, many students, and staff members were injured and admitted to the KUET Medical Center.

Despite the VC’s deteriorating physical condition, he reassured students that their demands would be met as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, the university administration has urged all students and related individuals to remain calm, while also requesting law enforcement to provide full cooperation to prevent any untoward situations.

The university administration assured that the investigation and resolution of the matter will be completed promptly.
