Police have recovered the bodies of an elderly couple at Bheramara upazila in Kushtia district.
The deceased were identified as Md Faridul Islam, 74, and Rabia Khatun, 55, residents of Char Damukdia village under Bahir Char union in the upazila.
According to locals, the victims son, Shariful spotted the hanging body of his father first inside a locked room on Tuesday, however, he broke the door and discovered his mother’s body wrapping her throat with a scarf. Her face was blood stained.
It was learnt that Rabia was third wife of Faridul.
According to his second wife’s son Abdul Alim Sabuj, Faridul allegedly killed his second wife in 2012. Later, the victim shifted Bheramara from Rajshai.
Bheramara Police Station officer-in-charge Shekh Shahidul Alam confirmed the recoveries and said that the bodies have been sent to Kushtia General Hospital morgue for autopsies.
