Army officials arrested three individuals for their alleged involvement in carrying out an attack on the workers of Platinum Creation and Design Limited at Ashulia in Savar.
The arrested were identified as the factory Director Arafat Jan, PM Masud Rana and Admin Manager Monjurul Islam.
According to police, the trio assaulted Ashulia Motherland Garments Workers' Federation president Abdullah Al-Mamun, its general secretary Nayeem Shikder and Ashulia Jatiya Sramik Jote president Kamrul Islam Mridha after confining them in the factory on Tuesday night, as they asked them for their unpaid wages, leaving them injured on the spot.
Being informed, a team of Army official rescued the victims from the spot and sent them to Dhamrai Upazila Health Complex for treatment, said Ashulia Police Station Sub-Inspector Shaifullah Akanda. They also arrested the officials from there and handed them over to Ashulia Police Station.
A case was lodged with the three officials of the factory with the police station, the SI said, adding that they were produced before a court on Wednesday.
The victims said that the factory suspended its 45 workers without paying them two months of salaries. The workers later lodged a complaint with Ashulia Motherland Garments Workers' Federation and Ashulia Jatiya Sramik Jote in this connection.
When the leaders of that organisation went to the factory, the officials misbehaved with them and assautled them there after confining, they alleged.
