A hundreds of students staged a protest at main gate of Savar Model Police Station, demanding justice and expressing dissatisfaction over the alleged provision of VIP protocol to the accused in the July Movement murder cases on Wednesday.
The protest took place at around 1:00 PM on Wednesday, with the students raising their voices against the alleged preferential treatment given to the murder accused.
The protest was also aimed at condemning the failure to arrest the real culprits involved in murder on July uprising.
The protestors claimed that police had recently provided VIP treatment to the accused, sending them to court in private vehicles with protocol.
The students expressed that the accused, who were on remand, were being treated with undue privileges, was seen as a betrayal to the blood of the martyrs of July uprising.
In response to their protest, police arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control.
Savar Model Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Jewel Mia stated that a few students gathered at the main gate of the police station and raised various slogans.
"We listened to their concerns and reassured them, after that they left the place peacefully", added the OC.
