Suspected robber held with firearms in Jamalpur

Police arrested a suspected robber along with firearms from Munniarchar area under Islampur upazila in Jamalpur on Tuesday night.

The arrested was identified as Chand Mia, 43, son of late Bahaz Uddin, a resident of Belgacha village in the upazila.

Confirming the matter, Islampur Police Station officer-in-charge Shaifullah Saif said that a team of police, acting on tip off, conducted a drive in the area and arrested him as part of the nationwide Operation Devil Hunt.

Police also recovered an indigenous firearms, five rounds of bullets and some lethal weapons from his possession.

Chand Mia, however, has been sent to jail after producing him before a court in the district, the OC added.
