The University Grants Commission (UGC) has found evidence of corruption and irregularities against Rajshahi University (RU) former Vice Chancellor Prof Dr M Abdus Sobhan, Pro-VC Prof Choudhury M Zakaria and acting registrar Prof M A Bari.
The UGC probe team, on Tuesday and today, submitted the report to Ministry of Education (MoE) and Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and Chief Advisor’s Office.
The committee found evidence of 25 allegations including graft, nepotism, irregularities against them during the investigation.
The report has been sought intelligence agency investigation against the VC and his dependence family members' source of income, bank details and transactions information. However, for noncooperation during the investigation, the commission demands to suspend the acting registrar and take legal actions against him.
Earlier, 62 faculties and two individual job candidates jointly lodged the complaint against the VC and pro-VC. Based on the compliant UGC formed a probe body which led by RU syndicate member Dr Dil Afroz Begum.
