Brick kiln owner fined Tk 20,000 in Moulvibazar

A mobile court has fined the owner of a brick kiln Tk 20,000 at Patan Ushar area of Kamalganj upazila in Moulvibazar district on Wednesday.

The court, led by the District Commissioner Office's Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate M Sohag Milu, conducted a drive at SKB Bricks in the upazila and fined its owner for not having an environmental clearance and violating the Brick Manufacturing and Brick Kiln Establishment (control) Act .
According to the mobile court, the brick kiln named SKB Bricks was fined for violating Sections 4 and 5 of the Brick Manufacturing and Kiln Establishment Act 2013, amended by 2019, and the Department of Environment Conservation Act 1995. Apart from this, it does not have a clearance from the Department of Environment and the district administration.

Moulvibazar district DoE Assistant Director M Maidul Islam, law enforcers including police, fire service and civil defense were present during the drive.
