Fire erupts in Barishal market

A fire has broken out in a market at Wazirpur upazila in Barishal district.

The incident occurred at Joyosree market on the Dhaka-Barishal highway in the upazila around 12:30 AM on Wednesday.

Witnesses reported that they suddenly saw flames at Joyoshree market and informed fire service.

On information, two units of fire service station from Wazirpur and Gournadi rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze after about an hour of effort.

The Dhaka-Barisal highway was closed for an hour as the water supply for extinguishing the fire was taken from the other side of the road.

Gournadi Fire Service Station officer Md Bipul Hossain said that they tried their best to douse the blaze.

The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage could not be determined immediately, said the fire service officials.
