A six-year-old girl was killed in a road accident in Cumilla's Homna upazila on Wednesday afternoon.
The accident took place at Kathalia area of Mathabhanga union in the upazila in the afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Maliha Akter, daughter of Sagir Ahmed, a resident of Munshikandi village in the upazila.
Confirming the matter, Homna Police Station Sub-Inspector Ehsanul Hasan said that a battery-run-auto-rickshaw hit Maliha while she along with her sister was playing on road next to their home, leaving her critically injured on the spot.
Later, the family rescued her from the spot and took her to Homna Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctors declared her dead upon arrival.
Being informed, a team of police recovered the body and handed it over to the deceased family members without autopsy as they, the family members, have no complaint regarding the issue, the OC added.
