Academic activities suspended at KUET

An emergency meeting of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) syndicate decided to suspend academic activities of the campus till February 28, 2025 on Wednesday.

The meeting decided to expel those, who involved in the attack, filed cases against outsiders, provide security to the students along with medical expenses for the injured.

Earlier, students locked the administrative and academic buildings of KUET around 1:30 PM with a six-point demands, including resignation of the Vice-Chancellor.

Currently, the campus is in a state of chaos.

Following the yesterday’s incident, many students have started leaving the resident halls since morning due to the tensions arose in the campus.

Fear and panic prevail among those who are renting houses outside the campus. The guardians of the students are also worried about the situation.

On Tuesday afternoon, clashes began at KUET over a restriction on student politics and it continue till evening. More than 50 people were injured in the clashes.

After the clashes, two platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) were deployed on the campus to bring the situation under control. The injured are undergoing treatment at various clinics in the vicinity, including Khulna Medical College Hospital and KUET Medical Center.

Protesting the attack incidents, the anti-discrimination students held a rally and marched at Dhaka University campus on Tuesday night.

The central committee of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), a pro-BNP student body, sent a team to Kuet at night to investigate what happened there and report in 24 hours.
