Train engine catches fire, rail services suspended on M'singh-Zaria route

A fire broke out in the engine of Balaka commuter train at Zaria in Netrakona district on Wednesday.

The incident occurred around 11:30 am in Zaria-Jhanjaial area in the district.
Netrokona's Shyamganj Station Master Zahirul Islam confirmed the matter and said that Balaka commuter train, which left Dhaka's Kamalapur station at 5:40 am today, suddenly caught fire in the train's engine when it reached the area at around 11:30 am.

Later, railway workers and passengers brought the fire under control. He also said that another local train bound for Zaria is currently at Shyamganj station. As per the decision of the administration, the engine of that train will be sent as a relief engine and the train damaged in the fire will be rescued.
