1 killed, 11 hurt in Gopalganj bus-covered van collision

A man was killed and at least 11 others were injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a covered van in Gopalganj's Kashiani upazila.

The accident occurred around 8 am on Wednesday (February 19) at Pona bus stand on the Dhaka-Khulna highway.

However, police have not yet been able to identify the deceased.

Kashiani Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shafiuddi Khan said that a passenger bus of 'Falguni Paribahan' was going to Khulna from Dhaka. On the way, it collided head-on with a Dhaka-bound covered van from the opposite direction in that area. One person died on the spot and at least 11 persons were injured.

Police and fire service personnel rescued the injured and took them to Kashiani Upazila Health Complex. Five seriously injured people have been admitted to the hospital. The Dhaka-Khulna highway has been closed since the accident.
