Rapper A$AP Rocky was found not guilty of two felony assault charges at the conclusion of his trial in Los Angeles on Tuesday.
The 35-year-old artist, who shares two children with singer Rihanna, had been facing up to 20 years in prison if convicted of assaulting his former friend, Terell Ephron (A$AP Relli), during a 2021 incident in Hollywood.
The courtroom erupted with emotion as the verdict was read, and the Grammy-nominated rapper, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, embraced those around him.
Throughout the trial, prosecutors argued that Mayers fired a semi-automatic weapon at Ephron on November 6, 2021, injuring his hand. However, Mayers maintained that he had only been carrying a prop gun that discharged blanks. Neither side presented the weapon used in the alleged incident.
