Ensure market stability during Ramadan

Dear Sir

As Ramadan approaches, it is crucial to address the ongoing issue of market instability, especially regarding the prices of essential commodities. The demand for products such as rice, sugar, pulses, and meat increases significantly during this sacred month. However, some traders exploit this increased demand by creating artificial shortages, leading to abnormal price hikes that severely affect low and middle-income consumers.

To mitigate these issues, effective market control measures must be implemented. Regular market monitoring and inspections by the government and local authorities are essential to curb price manipulation and ensure fair pricing. Strengthening the supply chain and ensuring adequate product availability can prevent shortages, while imposing strict penalties on hoarders will discourage unethical practices.

Increasing public awareness about responsible purchasing and the importance of buying only what is needed will also help stabilize the market. Additionally, expanding the activities of the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will provide affordable options for low-income families during this period.

Together, through coordinated efforts from the government, business organizations, and the public, a stable and fair market during Ramadan can be achieved, ensuring that all individuals can observe this holy month with dignity and peace.
