Women's DPL commences today with Mohammedan- Sheltech match

The trophy of the Dhaka Premier Division Women's Cricket League 2024-2025 was unveiled on Tuesday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, with captains of the nine participating teams posing alongside it.

The new season of the league kicks off with a highly anticipated clash between defending champions Mohammedan Sporting Club led by Salma Khatun and newcomers Sheltech Cricket Academy captained by Nigar Sultana Joty.

Two other matches will also take place on the opening day as Abahani Limited will take on Bangladesh Police Cricket Club at BKSP, while Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity will face Gulshan Youth Cricket Club at ULAB Ground.

The remaining three teams in the tournament are BKSP, Bangladesh Ansar and VDP Women's Cricket Team and Kalabagan Krira Chakra.

Following their disappointing tour of the West Indies last month, Bangladesh now faces the challenge of going through the qualifiers to secure a spot in the ODI World Cup. Captain Nigar Sultana views the Premier League as a crucial preparation platform for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
